Three management information systems I have used within my career are:
Resturaunt POS system
While I worked in a resturaunt we used a MIS which allowed us to place orders on a touch screen. The system had broken up the resturaunt into each individual table which you could then select any item off the menu. This was then divided up into each individual server. This information system helped reach the business goal of serving customers because it processed orders into the kitchen so the operation of actually cooking the food could be completed. This system also managed the bills so the resturaunt could process sales and actually make money.
Sharepoint
The advertising agency I worked for used a MIS called Sharepoint. Sharepoint was similar to a server were information was stored. The system would allow you to hold documents, monitor who could access those documents as well had two different sides. The two different sides were created so the client could only view and use certain functions and the agency had full access. You could create meetings and alerts for everyone in the company. This proccess helped the agency reach its business goal of making the client happy as it made communication of the work being done quick and efficent
Infostore
Infostore is the POS which we use at the lingerie store. It is a typical sales system for a retail location. The program allows us to make sales, monitor sales activities and functions each employee does. The system also manage inventory flow and general accounting.
